Fits my model perfectly. I use my Fire HD7 almost exclusively for reading and needed to replace a seriously worn out case (that case is no longer made, apparently). The most important factor for me was the ability to prop the tablet up vertically as well as horizontally - that was the most important factor for me as a reader. This case has that. I don't find it too steady to type on, but it does stay in position for reading and moving through pages. Also all controls and the camera lens are accessible and visible. No problems there. And it does seem to protect well. It's fallen several times and been fine. (I do have a screen protector on it too, though).Also, this case has stood up well. I've now had it for 7 months and all that has happened is some minor corner wear... and I carry it around with me all over, in purse, backpack, etc.Some minor quibbles - it does not activate the tablet's auto sleep/wake function when you close/open the cover (my previous case did). Also regret it does not have the sturdy hand strap my previous case did that allowed me to hold it open securely in my hand when on the go... Also, the slender elastic serves to keep it closed, but is not in a position that would allow it to keep the back folded out of the way and OPEN (like my old cover)... but I have to face reality -- the older cover is no longer available for this older model; I'm just glad I was able to get a case that functions as well and looks as neat as this one does. As long as my Fire HD keeps functioning for reading, it will serve its purpose.
